Flybe Customers Told Not To Travel To The Airport…

Flybe refunds and travel arrangements

Flybe enters administration

This morning, on the 5th March, airline provider Flybe released a statement to confirm that they had entered administration. All Flybe customers were advised not to travel to the airport unless other arrangements had been organised. The statement went on to say that there would be no alternative flights arranged by Flybe. So, what happens next if you have a flight arranged with Flybe in the near future?

Alternative travel arrangements for Flybe customers and staff

You have a few choices for alternative travel arrangements. Firstly, if you are travelling on a domestic flight in the UK, you may be able to get a free train ticket. FirstGroup, which is the largest rail operator in the UK, have announced that if you can prove you had a flight booked with Flybe within the next week, you are eligible to travel on their trains for free. You will need to have a boarding pass or another valid proof that you have booked a flight for these dates, Flybe staff can just show their staff ID for the same offer. Another rail provider, LNER, have also offered free rail travel for Flybe customers throughout the 5th March.

Secondly, easyJet are offering a free flight for any customers or staff that are due to fly on the 5th March. If you are travelling after the 5th March, easyJet will allow Flybe customers to fly for £65 up until the end of May. On this flight you will be allowed to take a 15kg hold bag with you.

Can I get a refund for my Flybe booking?

If none of that helps you, the only other thing you can do is re-book a flight with a different company. The good news is, you may be able to get a refund for some or all of your money. If you have travel insurance, there is a good chance you will be covered and will get a refund. With that being said not every supplier covers cancelled flights due to an airline collapse, but it is worth checking, if you have travel insurance. Secondly, you can apply to your credit or debit card provider and they may be able to reimburse you. Finally, if you bought your holiday as package from a 3rd party, separate to Flybe, you may also be eligible for a refund due to ATOL protection.

Can Car Rental Companies Track Where You Are?

Can a car rental company track where you are

Can Car Rental Companies Track Where You Are?

The majority of car rental companies have trackers fitted to their cars and vans. The reason for this is so that the supplier can protect their fleet of vehicles and make sure there is no breach of the terms agreed.

Why Would A Car rental company want to track where you are?

Car rental companies use a tracking device because they need to protect themselves, an example of this would be if the driver does not return the vehicle. If a tracker is fitted to the car, they can easily locate the car, making it harder for the car to be stolen.

Another reason why car trackers are used is to make sure there is no illegal or unlawful use of the car. In the past rental cars have been known to be used in illegal acts. By having the car fitted with a tracker it will already deter anyone wishing to use the car illegally. Also, if something illegal does happen, the location of the car at that time can be vital evidence.

Finally, if you hire a car and it is prohibited to cross over an international border, the tracker can be used to ensure you abide by this. If you choose to cross over the border, the supplier will know, and you could end up in a lot of trouble with the supplier and maybe even local law enforcement. For this reason, make sure you arrange cross border car hire if you wish to travel across an international border.

Should this stop you from hiring a car?

To conclude, yes, the majority of suppliers will track their cars. However, this shouldn’t make a difference to you, as long as you are abiding by the law and the rental agreement. It is only in place to protect the supplier and in some cases could protect you.

If you are looking for car hire, we offer car hire worldwide so contact us today. You can contact us by call on +44 (0)113 880 0748, email at sales@thealternativeagency.co.uk or by using the live chat function.

Are Car Rental Deposits Refundable?

Are car rental deposits refundable

Are Car Rental Deposits Refundable?

The short answer is yes, car rental deposits are refundable. With that been said depending on the car hire supplier you book with, the length of time it takes for your deposit to be returned can differ. This is because some suppliers choose to pre authorise the payment, meaning that you are not able to spend this money, but the money is not taken from your card. The alternative is that the supplier takes the money off your card and then refunds the money to your card. The process of refunding your money usually takes 5 to 10 working days.

Can I Lower My Car Hire Deposit?

Yes, many suppliers offer different deposits for car hire. In some locations we are able to offer car hire with no deposit which is great if you don’t have a lot of money spare and can’t afford to have a large deposit held on your card. We also have several suppliers who offer car hire with a low deposit, this means you only have to pay a significantly smaller deposit than the usual large deposits.

UEFA Euro 2020, Planning England’s Route To The Final

Euro 2020 European Locations

England are heading to the UEFA Euro 2020 finals later this year and with the young talent on show in Southgates side, the whole country has high-hopes for this squad of players.

One big difference to this years tournament is that it is being billed as pan-european, ordinarily one nation would host the finals meaning football fans from all over Europe would flock to one country, possibly two as we have seen before in 2000 when Belgium & Holland hosted together or 2012 when Poland & Ukraine did the same. This time however, Euro 2020 is being held in 12 major cities across the continent.

This means although most teams will be playing the majority group games at one location. Once the group stages are done, those who qualify for the Round of 16 could be playing in one of a few stadiums around Europe. To use England as an example, all group games are at Wembley. If they top group D, they will play group F runners up in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium. If they come 2nd in group D, they will play the runners up from group E at Copenhagen’s Parken Stadium, so don’t book any flights to Dublin just yet.

Depending on the round of 16 results, we could be in for a quarter final either in Azerbaijan, Italy, Germany or Russia!

That Means A Lot Of Travelling For The Die Hard Fan

Yes, that does mean a lot of travelling for the hardcore fan who wants to see every game their team plays, but if you consider the travelling involved at the World Cup in Brazil, USA or Russia, a couple of hops around Europe doesn’t seem that bad at all. If you do intend to travel then you know where we are for your rental car needs, we have vehicles available at all major airports in Europe, or if you intend on driving from home to tour the stadiums of Europe then we have low cost european travel and cross border options for you too.

One Way Van Hire

One Way Van Hire

What Is One Way Van Hire?

One way van hire is when you hire a van at a location and drop the van off at a different location to the one you picked it up from. We are pleased to announce that we work with several suppliers across the UK who can offer one-way van hire.

Why Would I Want To Book One Way Van Hire?

There are several scenarios in which hiring a van and returning it to a different location will save you a lot of time and hassle. An example of this is if you are moving to a new house, as if it isn’t stressful enough, you would usually have to drive all the way back and drop the van off where you picked it up from. Furthermore, you would then need to arrange travel to return back to your new home. However, if you book one way van hire you can return the van to a location nearer to your new house.

What Locations Offer One Way Van Hire?

We work with several suppliers who can provide one way van hire, this means that we have locations across the country in the majority or major airports and cities. If you would like to book one way van hire, our team can advise you of the closest branch to your desired drop off point.

Is there an extra charge for one way van hire?

Unfortunately, there is an extra charge when you wish to drop off your van at a different location to the one you picked up from. The charge is only small and can vary depending on how far away you wish to drop off the van from the original pick up location. Even with the charge it may be cheaper to book one way van hire in comparison to paying for petrol to return the van and then paying for travel from the drop off location back to your house.

If you are interested in booking a one way van hire or want to hire a van for any other reason, you must contact our team. This allows our team to find you the best price, to save you as much money as possible. You can contact us by calling us on +44 (0)113 880 0748, emailing us at sales@thealternativeagency.co.uk or by using the live chat function.
