We recently received a question regarding this from one of our previous customers and we thought it was a great topic to inform our readers, the exact question was “Do you hire out cars to drive from Faro airport to Isla canella in Spain?”. People often get confused about hiring a car in Portugal and dropping it off in Spain because of the proximity of both of the countries, so we are here to help and clear it up a bit.
The simple answer and good news is that you can hire a car from Faro Airport and drop it off at any major airport within Spain such as Barcelona airport, Madrid airport, Malaga airport and more. Two of our suppliers will allow this from any major Portuguese airport to any major Spanish airport.
Cross Border Fees –
There are cross border fees included in this and the price of which ranges depending on how long you are hiring the car and where you are wanting to drop it off. We will however always find you the best price available for your given dates and times, we won’t just take into account the cheapest cross border fees we will take in to account the total price of the rental and pick you the cheapest.
As part of this you do have to meet the standard conditions of 23 years old and have held your licence for a year prior to hiring with us. I will start by answering this straight away; you can’t pay for your deposit in cash. Nothing in relation to car hire works in cash, you may only use credit cards and some debit cards in specific locations.

On Christmas Eve the north terminal at Gatwick airport was experiencing significant problems, dozens of flights were cancelled as systems couldn’t cope with the large amount of people wanting to get away for Christmas. Despite a lot of departures switching to south terminal and engineers working on fixing the issues tirelessly a lot of people were left stranded. The issue wasn’t only the cancelled flights; people weren’t being made aware that their flight was cancelled until 11 or 12 hours after it was scheduled creating massive crowds of unhappy customers. The best loved Volkswagen vehicle, the quirky campervan has come to an end. The most expensive city for parking in the world with a massive £42 per day as an average cost is just ridiculous, other major cities that have high parking charges include Stockholm, Zurich and New York but they range from £28-32 a massive £10 cheaper, the only city that moderately even comes close to the cost of London is Tokyo at £38. Being at this time of year with several cases of roads been flooded it has become a very common hazard for motorists in Britain to be confronted with essentially a pond instead of a road. The issue is however how do you negotiate these floods? After having a few drinks on the night previous you may have to get in your car early in the morning, the issue with this as many people have found out is that you may still be over the legal drink driving limit. It is very hard to tell in the morning if you still have alcohol in your system with research showing that 56% of drivers having no idea whether or not they would be safe to drive the next day after consuming alcohol the previous night. Worryingly there are so many people that don’t even consider the effects of Alcohol from the previous night on driving in the morning with one in ten 25 to 34 year olds thinking they would be fine to drive at 9am the next day. Mercedes Benz GLA
A car that is being manufactured with the intention of rivalling the already popular Audi Q3 and the Range Rover Evoque, quite a brave move by Mercedes but will it live up to the task? The estimated price tag is lower than that of its rivals, set to be released in spring the new compact SUV is based on a platform the same as the CLA saloon and A class hatchback.
Ford Mondeo
Identical to the Ford Fusion which is already sold in the US and set to be released in Europe, the difference between this new model and the overseas one is the difference in engines and higher grade carbon trim, but it’s yet to be seen if there will be any significant differences when the vehicle is released in September.
Lamborghini Huracan
Granted not many of us will be able to meet the £155,000 price tag its exciting none the less, the Huracan is set to be the replacement for the Gallardo which is going to be quite the task as the Gallardo is the best selling Lamborghini ever. The new 5.2 litre V10 with an estimated 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds may live up to its predecessor.
Citroen Cactus
Looking like a car from the future with its glitter and glam and high tech outer body it was a concept car released in 2013 but is set to be on sale June this year. The cactus has the goal of being one of the safest cars with its new “Airbump” system designed to reduce low speed impacts and aiming to replace the traditional bumper.
Volkswagen Golf R
Another Volkswagen Golf to break records? The new high performance version of the Mk7 with a 2.0 litre engine and four wheel drive should bring it to match its rivals like the BMW M135i. You can buy this vehicle now however its first deliveries start in March; will the new Golf do as well as the previous years?
