When it comes to leasing a car, your credit history is very important. Leasing suppliers who are providing a vehicle worth tens of thousands of pounds want to know that their investment is protected. I say investment because ordinarily the leasing company will be ordering you a new vehicle from the manufacturer. This is based on the fact that you will be leasing it for 2-3 years.

The reason Car Leasing With A CCJ is possible in this instance is that the risk is very minimal. The monthly fee is taken upfront and as it is a short term agreement, the supplier is able to take the vehicle back should any issues with payment occur.

The package deals are fully inclusive, meaning that you only need to add fuel. Your monthly payment covers the rental and insurance of the vehicle. This is where it differs to standard contract hire or traditional leasing.

As they only want a certain amount of miles adding to the car, they will change you into a brand new car every 3 months. This is the cost you will pay upfront every 30 days as your lease agreement for the car. There is an up front one-off cost of £150 to cover the delivery and collection of the vehicle, anywhere in England and Wales, this also covers the change over of the car after every three months. £250 will be held against your credit or debit card as a deposit for the rental and ultimately you will be liable for an insurance excess of £1000.

As you have probably seen this week, we are all expecting Holidays To Return From 12th April*. Boris and co have announced that if all continues to go as it is then we will be allowed to travel within the UK with our household from Monday 12th April.

This means camp sties, caravan sites, holiday homes and park home sites can reopen, providing anyone staying there, live together. This is fantastic news and is only the start, by the 21st of June it is hoped that all restrictions on travel and holidays will be lifted, at least in the UK. You can find out more on the dates and restrictions on the government website.

After the last 12 months it seems we are finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel and we hope that things can begin to return to some normality for most.

What Does This Mean For Car Hire?

The rental industry has been ‘open’ throughout but with the restrictions on travel, it has been a very quiet year. We hope that the easing of restrictions will make a big difference and do expect enquiries for rentals from 12th April onwards to come flooding in.

Until now, we have not been able to arrange Van Leasing For Courier Drivers. It is something we get calls and emails about daily. But for various reasons, van rental companies did not like to rent commercial vehicles to delivery drivers.

With the way the world has changed due to Covid-19 over the last 12 months, it seems that every other vehicle is a home shopping delivery driver or local courier. I live with a shopaholic and am now on first name terms with our Amazon driver. These drivers need to get vehicles from somewhere and if no rental companies want their business, where do they go?

Not Just Normal Rental Vans

The biggest requirement on the drivers part is they unlike with normal rental vans, have to provide their own fully comprehensive insurance policy to cover the vehicle for their intended use. The other big reason is the mileage. Delivery drivers eat up the miles on their daily routes and most suppliers have a mileage cap of 1000 miles per month with no flexibility. Our new packages offer a standard mileage allowance of 2000 per month and have the flexibility to allow you to go over this, for every 1000 miles you go over it will cost an extra £20, just 2p per mile.
