RAC Deflate AA Pride

Snap Snap Snap! Pictures have been taken of a Ford Fiesta covered in the AA badge being recovered by an RAC van, embarrassing. When the AA driving school car called the AA to request that their car is recovered it got declined, turns out that the Ford Fiesta was a leased car and the company that the car was leased from are covered by the RAC due to this the RAC where called out to recover the car, not that they are complaining, a nice advert for the company.

The RAC did the simple job of towing the Fiesta to a local Kwik Fit for a tyre change. Pete Williams a spokesman came out with a rather cheeky comment aimed at the AA “the AA driving school vehicle got a puncture like so many new cars coming off the production line it wasn’t carrying a spare wheel”. There are always warnings to caring a spare wheel from both the RAC and AA alike so Pete Williams’s remark was implying that they should practice what they preach. He also came out with “I’m sure the decision not to help out their own driving school is one the AA is regretting now” and this is surely right, the AA have seemingly been quite embarrassed by the incident.

This would have been easily avoided by the AA picking up the car and it would have been at little cost however now this viral photograph posted on several joke websites and news articles has been seen by possibly hundreds of thousands of people. Could it realistically hurt AA’s business or is it really just a funny photo? RAC are in a bit of a win, win situation. Perhaps in adding salt to the wound the AA have made no comment.
