Legally Driving With Over 12 Points

Legally Driving With Over 12 PointsPeople who receive 12 points within a 3 year period are usually banned from driving for 6 months as 12 points are the legal maximum amount. Would you worry if you where on the road with people who had totalled up 12 points or more? As they should be banned and with good reason to be. (more…)

Car Hire With Points On My Licence

A common question we get asked on a regular basis is how many points can I have on my licence in order to hire a car. Our general answer majority of the time depending on the location and the supplier is six. This is industry standard as many only car hire companies only accept six points, some don’t accept any at all. It also depends on what you got your points for with convictions like a DR10 taking 5 years from the conviction date in order to be accepted for car hire where as for example speeding isn’t considered as serious in terms of when you get points on your licence and hiring.

We have managed to negotiate a certain supplier that has several locations across the UK to bring you car hire if you have 9 points or lower. This is a 3 point improvement on the previous amount, however it does still depend in which you got your points or convictions for, please refer to our driving convictions page for more details on what points are considered more serious than others. You will find the main convictions that get turned away are insurance and drinking convictions, for those you will need to wait 5 years in order to hire a car with us and every other car hire company.

The amount of points and what points are accepted or declined can often be very confusing, Indigo are here to make it easier for you so give us a call on +44 (0)113 880 0748 if you are still confused after reading our driving convictions page. Take advantage of Indigos offers, if you have 6-9 points on your licence come straight to us as we will be able to do something about it to try help you hire a car.

It also doesn’t help that on the front of the licence the actual dates that you need to see for the licence to be renewed by are extremely small and people just over look them. (more…)
