Car Hire Without a Photocard
The Photocard licence was introduced in 1998 and since they have tried to get everyone with old paper licences to switch to these. They are much more convenient, easy to use and clear and concise but they do come with their own issues, they have to legally be renewed every 10 years which many people are failing to do and they also can be easy to lose since it’s the size of a credit/debit card, never the less photocards are the most commonly produced form of photo identification in the UK along with passports.
The most important part of your licence in terms of hiring a car is the photo part, this is used to tell various things and mostly as a proof of identity. All car hire companies require this photocard to be produced when you turn up to the rental counter and it’s an easy thing to lose or forget about or lose and it can be costly to replace at about £25, not to mention convenient. In this regard often people don’t have it and rental companies have an issue with this, we included because it means that you won’t be able to pick up your vehicle, or not at least until now.
The photo part of your licence isn’t so much of an issue abroad but it is in the UK as all the rental companies apart from one we have managed to negotiate with and arrange a deal that will allow you to get car hire without photo part of your driving licence meaning there will be no issues when you turn up at the rental desk.
Supply is however very limited and we have also only managed to arrange this with one supplier in the UK who have a few locations across the country, but since the supply is limited we ask that you make us fully aware of the situation before you pick up the rental vehicle as we need to book you with this precise supplier as only they will allow you to do this.
