Car rental with points on your licence can be confusing but here at Indigo we are going to try and make it easy for you. There are many different rules and regulations in place deterring one fine/conviction from another.

Usually car hire companies can only take people who have 6 points or lower but its not as easy as that. There are things that are considered major convictions such as IN10 or DR10, these will see you banned from hiring a car from the date that you get your licence back and 5 years after that. However if you have a ticket for say speeding or going through a red light and received 3 points then you still will be able to hire as long as it doesn’t equate over 6 points.

We have another offer to throw in the mix as well, we can now announce that in certain locations we can take and hire to people who have 9 points or lower on their licence as long as they are considered as lower offences. This can be rather confusing and we do urge anyone to call us if you have points but to specifically call us if you have between 6 – 9 points as it’s rare in the car hire industry but we still might be able to help you get your hired car when no one else can. Convictions are usually 5 years from the date you get your licence back but there are also some exceptions that if you are unsure you should call us again.
