Why do you allow this when most require 12 months experience?

Renting a Car with a licence for less than a year is not something that is readily available in the market place. Many of Indigo’s service cover niche area, accommodating things that others do not. Agreements have been reached with insurers to allow insurance to be provided. The driver needs to be 25 or over which does exclude a small section of people.

Are there any restrictions if I have held my licence for less that a year as to what I can rent?

There are some restrictions in respect of the vehicle sizes that can be hired. Our insurers will not allow us to rent any of our premium cars, so until you have held your license for 12 months premium cars such as BMW, Mercedes are out of the question. Restrictions also apply to the rental of people carriers such as 7/8/9 seaters, generally you need to have held your license for more than 12 months to rent this range of cars.

Do I need a credit card to hire if I have held my licence for under 12 months?

We accept all major credit cards for the security deposit required on arrival. Debit cards are accepted as long as the hirer passes an address check on arrival. The main criteria to a pass is that the person is on the electoral role and pays council tax at the property they reside in. For hirers renting at an airport or a train station and wishing to use a debit card a return flight schedule or train tickets need to be presented.
