The most expensive city for parking in the world with a massive £42 per day as an average cost is just ridiculous, other major cities that have high parking charges include Stockholm, Zurich and New York but they range from £28-32 a massive £10 cheaper, the only city that moderately even comes close to the cost of London is Tokyo at £38.

There is no reason for London to be as expensive as it is, other places in the UK like Manchester for example has a typical average parking cost for the day of £12, a whole £30 cheaper. You also have to take into account the congestion charge for the day, London surely has to be the most expensive place to own and run a vehicle. What you also need to bare in mind is not to park in a commercial car park as these will set you back an incredible £75 per day, yes £75 a day you did hear right. The most expensive parking spaces in London are privately owned on Mayfair and in August one of them went for no less than £300,000, essentially you may need to get a mortgage in order to be able to get your own parking space in the capital.

Tokyo is known for its lack of parking spaces and well space all together and with the Japanese desperately trying to make more city cars to cope with this there is no surprise that they have a £38 per day charge to park; London on the other hand doesn’t have any issue with this. The fact still remains that London is the most expensive place to park in the world and with no talk of any reduction or cap its likely to stay that way for a while, so if you are travelling to the UK capital and want to park your car, be mindful that it could cost you an incredible amount!
