Heathrow Terminal 5 Opens Business Doors

Heathrow airport opened their airport to passengers back in March 2008; it cost a total of £4 billion and took a long 19 years to complete. The airport terminal is currently the largest free standing building in the UK with how long it took and how much money it took it came as a surprise to many when they announce that the airport was to only be used exclusively by British airways as it didn’t seem as if that was a profitable option for Heathrow in order to pay off their 19 billion pounds it took to make the terminal.

The airport terminal upon opening had a mass failure of baggage, what happened was the baggage wasn’t been correctly tracked so it was not travelling with their passengers to the location and was forced to shut down until further notice which took a good two weeks but they merely stated that they had put this problem down to “IT Issues”. Something else obviously didn’t work as early last year just 4 years after its original opening they decided against it being an British airways exclusive terminal and decided upon opening their gates to other businesses this included car hire companies as well possibly hoping that it would bring in more business for the airport.

The first car hire company and brand new residents of the 5th terminal are the exclusive car hire company for both British Airways and Iberia the two airliners now currently operating in the terminal. Where have we heard this exclusive word before? Give it 4 years there will be a lot more car hire companies guaranteed, regardless this makes it much easier for passengers coming in and out of terminal 5 on a regular basis to hire a car as they no longer have to walk to other Heathrow terminals to pick up their cars with an estimated 26.3 million passengers a year a car hire company at the location was more than overdue.
