Malta Car Hire Age Limit

Many holiday goers visit Malta each year with the main airport (Malta International Airport) seeing over 4 million passengers a year. The island is also a very popular location for seniors due to its warm weather and relaxing atmosphere. Malta is quite small, you can travel from one side of the main part of the Island to the other in around 45 – 60 minutes but despite this to get from place to place hiring a car is near to essential.

This is where there is a bit of an issue, for reasons unknown car hire companies on the island are very strict with their upper age limits. This isn’t rare as there are a large amount of suppliers all over the world who have an upper age limit which is usually around the 70-75 mark, however we can often negotiate this down.

We really struggled in Malta senior drivers was just something car hire companies did not want to budge on. Typically the age in Malta was 70, if you were any older then you wouldn’t been able to get a car but we wouldn’t be Indigo Car Hire if we didn’t keep trying and true to our word we eventually came up with something.

The deal we have is that we can now allow people up until the age of 75 to hire, a 5 year improvement on the country standard. Unfortunately we struggled to make this any higher but if we do we will let you know.
