Mission Against Hidden Extras
Here at Indigo Car Hire we pride ourselves on giving our customers great service, and one of the phrases that we often mention on many of our pages is that we have no hidden extras, but what exactly does this mean?
“Hidden Extras” are riddled throughout the car hire process, there are tons of little conditions in the T&Cs of rental companies before you hire to try and make you pay extra. A large percentage of the time if you get a quote with a company that will not be the final cost of the rental. We are here to help make you fully aware of the total cost before you arrive at the airport.
The really big issue with this is that car hire companies know that when you arrive to pick up your car the large majority of the time you aren’t in a position to say no if they raise the price slightly, thereforethey hide extra costs.
Aims
We always aim to make every cost clear and make you aware of the complete cost of the rental before you pick up your car. We are here to fight your corner and on the way help you get the best priced hire possible, we give you an old fashion business style nothing is hidden and we are here to help, below you will find some advice so you don’t get caught out!
Advice
There are a few ways in which people get caught out and are made to pay extra, so here are a few things to look out for when hiring a car!
Young Driver – If you are under the age of 25 then 90% of the time there is going to be an extra charge. This is a daily fee added onto your rental and can be quite expensive, we have great deals on this however and can sometimes find it with no additional fees so to avoid this and get the best deal call us directly.
Booking Online – DON’T! The online T&Cs sometimes aren’t specific to the particular company and even if you have read them they aren’t always the case, there are tons of things to trip you up in the online booking process so just call the experts.
Deposits – Some people don’t even consider the fact there is going to be a deposit on a hired vehicle, you need to have these funds available on your payment card in order to be given the car and these can range all the way up to £3,000 in extreme cases.
Excess – A lot of companies require you to take their zero excess policies which reduce your liability so in the event of an accident you don’t have to pay, but this is an extra daily fee again.
Fuel Policies – This isn’t a regular in the UK but in some countries such as Spain a lot of the companies give you the car full and you have to pay for the full tank and then return it as close to empty as possible.
