Price Increase For London Airport Passengers
Earlier in the month there was an increase in the cost of flights at London airports due to the cost in Air Passenger Duty (ADP). This increase in price was met by unhappy customers as a price increase always is, but that wasn’t the end of it there has been a recent proposal that airports want to yet again increase their price they are charging airliners for using the three main London airports, Stansted, Gatwick and Heathrow.
Charging airliners extra of course means that this is going to be reflected in the cost of tickets as its an evil chain that always results in the passengers taking the full force of the hit. The confirmation of these prices is set to be announced tomorrow this could see a passenger having the additional fee they get charged with their “take-off and landing” fees which is jumping from £19.33 to £27.30 per person which is set to rise between 2014 – 2019.
The strongest opposing view of this is the airliner Ryanair as their low cost status could be jeopardised if prices continue to rise. Although it seems like a small rise of £8 it adds up for regular passengers, this also comes at a time of more controversy with rallies speaking against the Heathrow expansion by adding a new runway to the airport which will also see a cost increase, Boris is of course against this as he of course favours the development of a new airport on “Boris Island” which he famously named after himself. The talk of expansions and further costs to passengers could see flights rise to an incredible amount, all the little things add together and everything affects the passengers pockets the way the price of tickets are going now no one will be able to fly abroad this holiday let alone with the recession taking place.
