This Month The Porsche 911 Turns 50

The classic 911, the best sports car the world has ever seen will mark its 50th Birthday this month. A festival will take place to celebrate Porsche’s achievement, the organisers of the festival are promising a truly stunning line up of the history of the Porsche 911 with legendary racing drivers in the seats of these fantastic cars. Since its introduction in 1963 the 911 has continued to impress as since its production 820,000 of the model have been sold and it’s one of the oldest sport coupes still going.

The 911 has always sported the same look but only with minor changes , its sticks to the rear-engine two door look with an extended front giving it a beautiful aerodynamic look and feel. The 911 was also awarded fifth for the Car of the Century award falling behind the well-known Beetle. The 911 continues to lead the way for Sport cars all over the world.

One of which that where happily wishing Porsche a happy birthday was Mini, the two cars made started in a similar time the 1960s where once fierce rivals but now seem to have buried the hatchet as an iconic photo shoot of a Porsche and a Mini together courtesy of Mini, although I’m not sure that Mini would be so friendly to the German car maker if it was still British owned.

Never the less Porsche has had a great history and many hope it continues but how long can Porsche keep making their beautiful rare designed model, especially now its old competition has almost been and gone.
