Velvet Porsche

Many people like to customise their cars particularly celebrities, from decals to body paint and personalised design there is an ongoing craze. The typical designs are your usual racing stripes or maybe a few pictures or two with a spoiler, but one Porsche owner is defying the normal trend in East Grinstead, London. The £100,000 Porsche has been completely wrapped up in velvet which is said to cost the owner £2,500, a waste of money or a new trend?

The Porsche has become a huge feature on social media with the picture taken by former apprentice James Lester quickly becoming viral with many commenting on the ridiculous idea of wrapping an expensive Porsche in such a design, one of my favourite comments was “It looks like a furry mouse whizzing about the place- It’s an eyesore really” which was tweeted by local Richard Dorman. Many people’s opinions are the same that such an amazing car got ruined by the design, however the velvet will only last three years and if the owner decides against it he can always have it removed and restored to the production line state.

The company Raccoon are the creators of this furry animal and they stated a couple of things about the velvet wrap saying many owners love the design, and they also answered to many tweets saying that the velvet is easy to wash by hand or jet wash but not by a car wash. The velvet comes in a wide range of colours including orange and pink there’s always a velvet suited to you! It’s not to everyone’s taste with Raccoon comparing it to the likes of marmite, but love it or hate it its proved to be a popular feature and there soon could be a furry street near you if this craze takes off.

This mysterious owner could of started off a new trend all it took was a Porsche and some velvet and Raccoon could see major business, I’m just waiting for cars covered in Velcro to counteract the velvet cars and bring car sharing to a whole new level.
