The waters of the Atlantic Ocean are not particularly warm but they are a heaven for surfers, windsurfers and kite-boarders. It’s easy to get to Clifton Beach as it’s near the Lion’s Head promontory. This is another prominent feature you can see from down in Cape Town. It was named Lion’s Head because its shape resembles a crouching lion or a sphinx. A signifying part of the port area has been redeveloped into The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, which has become a symbol of the new South Africa<\/strong><\/a> and has a huge variety of shops, restaurants and entertainment opportunities. This place is also the main departure point for visits to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated and where you can take a tour of the prison and the cell left exactly as it was.<\/p>\n
